Stage V LPG Engine Performance Certification

With support from the "Commercialization and Market Entry Support Program for Small and Medium-sized Environmental Enterprises"—an initiative backed by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI)—EngineTechWin successfully secured European certification for its newly developed engine between May 2021 and May 2022.

Although the LPG engine—which has now received European certification—was originally developed under the "Global Top Environmental Technology Development Project (2019–2020)" (supported by KEITI’s Eco-friendly Vehicle Technology Development Group), it could not be commercialized without this certification, which is a prerequisite for meeting the quality standards demanded by construction machinery manufacturers and for entering overseas markets.

The newly developed 2.6L engine is designed for construction machinery (specifically 2-ton to 3.5-ton forklifts). By incorporating an electronic Multi-Point Injection (MPI) fuel supply system, the engine achieves superior power, high performance, improved fuel efficiency, and high reliability—placing it among the best in its class globally.

Forklifts in the 2-ton to 3.5-ton range account for over 65% of the total forklift market. In Europe and North America, in particular, LPG-powered forklifts represent 70% to 80% of the market; therefore, securing European certification is expected to open significant commercial opportunities in these international markets.

While some domestic manufacturers already utilize engines with Stage V certification for their products, others still rely on imported engines that hold European certification. With this new certification, domestic manufacturers now have the option to replace imported engines with this locally developed unit, and active promotional efforts are currently underway. Furthermore, as there are many overseas construction machinery manufacturers that require this engine to enter the European and North American markets, we plan to establish a network of overseas dealerships and actively promote the product to facilitate our entry into those markets.
