Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) must be stored in insulated tanks at a temperature of -162°C. Despite this, the temperature inside the storage tank inevitably rises, causing the liquid LNG to vaporize and increasing the pressure within the tank. When the pressure inside the storage vessel rises, the gas is either vented into the atmosphere for safety reasons or processed through a re-liquefaction system to convert it back into a liquid state for use.

Gas that vaporizes within an LNG storage tank in this manner is referred to as "Boil-Off Gas" (BOG).

BOG consists primarily of methane (CH4), a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming—much like CO2. Releasing it into the atmosphere creates both environmental concerns and energy loss.

The BOG gas generator developed by our company utilizes this vaporized gas to power a generator. The electricity produced can be used to support facility operations or fed back into the power grid for sale. The system is designed to monitor pressure fluctuations within the tank and automatically adjust the generator's power output or toggle the unit on and off accordingly.

The following image shows the site where the developed BOG gas generator has been installed.
